Japan: Funassyi Pop-up store Osaka

Japan has lots of prefectural characters, such as Hikonyan, Kumamon, Mican and Funassyi!

Two of my friends love this character and when they saw he was coming to Osaka asked me to go and take pictures. So here you can all enjoy…!

About Funassyi:
Funassyi (ふなっしー Funasshī?) is a Japanese mascot character, unofficially representing the city of Funabashi, Chiba. It was created by a citizen of Funabashi to promote his/her own website. It later appeared at events, festivals, TV programs and commercials, gaining popularity all over Japan.
From Wikipedia.

The pop up store event is on in Tsutaya Ebisubashi, the one with Starbucks in it by Dotonbori bridge. The store is open until September 21st, then I believe it will move on to Kobe Sannomiya store later.

I love Osaka themed Funassyi, we have takoyaki, obachan, Hanshin Tigers, Tsutenkaku and Osaka Castle!

  1. Hahaha this is so cute! Kinda reminds me of those minions from Despicable Me lol. I love that some prefectures have their own characters – I wish the states here in the US did that too! Thanks for the photos!
