My home station just had a revamp, and now has a Vierra shopping station added next to the line.
Modelled to look just like a loop line train!

USJ is Easter themed at the moment!
I visited a few days ago, the lovely bright colours matched the spring like weather perfectly!
After spending the night in Takayama we woke up early and joined a bus tour to Shirakawa. You can read my post on Takayama here.
Takayama to Shirakawa takes about 50 minutes and our cheery bus tour guide Yama-chan gave us a quick lesson on Shirakawa history on the way. He also have us maps and his recommendations.
The drive over was pretty scary actually, the roads were windy and snowy. We went through lots of tunnels, the longest being almost 11km!
Our first stop was the view point over Shirakawa where most of the promo pictures are taken from!
I visited Takayama and Shirakawa for a weekend break from Osaka, I had such a fantastic time. There is too much to put in one post so I’ll break it into two…the Shirawaka part will come soon.
It’s a 5 hour bus ride to Hida Takayama (飛騨高山) from Umeda, we had 2 or 3 stops at service stations along the way though and I was able to sleep a little seeing I got up at 6am!
I was lucky enough to attend the UEDA X Kera event in Osaka again! My 2013 report is here.
The sumo grand tournament is on again in Osaka prefectural gymnasium at the moment. We went last year and really enjoyed it, so we decided to visit again this year with some friends and get box seats!
The seats cost about ¥11,500 each, and were tiny! Just four cushions in a square.
Our view was pretty good though, in the middle with no obstructions.
I was out shopping for my sisters birthday presents and was surprised to see a Moomin Stand and mini shop have opened in MIO Tennoji.
It opened on 19th Feb, along with 25 other stores as part of a mini renewal.
Everyone loves cherry blossom (sakura), but what about plum blossom (ume)?! I love seeing plum blossom as its a sure sign of spring beginning and better weather ahead!
In Osaka you can see lots of plum blossom in Osaka Castle Park. We visited a few weeks ago (11th Feb) and a few early blooming species had started to blossom.
