Recently I have found myself loving Jane Marple more and more… Their Royal stamp print is at the top of my wish list and has been for some time.
Emily Temple Cute are a lovely lolita / otome brand, sadly their Osaka store is closing at the end of this month (31/01/14).
In late Novemer there was a national holiday in Japan, so I had 3 days off together! Yay. We jumped on the Willer Express Friday night and headed to Tokyo.
As it’s so long ago now, here are the highlights of our trip!
First day we hit Asakusa, Harajuku, Akihabara and Shinjuku. Mostly for shopping.
I made a post before on how to survive summer in Japan, and here is the winter edition.
Perhaps it doesn’t get as cold in Japan as it does in the UK but you definitely feel the cold a lot more here. First of all it’s a damp cold that seems to get right to your bones, and secondly houses and apartments don’t have good insulation or central heating. So you are just perpetually cold.
I got 9 days off work over new year and wanted to get away, so we decided on Nagoya. It’s not that far away from Osaka and we’ve been before, but we hoped to visit Gifu and Mie (Ise) at the same time.
This was my third Christmas spent in Japan.
The first in 2009 I had my family with me, the hotel had a big tree (which disappeared pretty sharp after!), we had presents and board games. It wasn’t quite Christmas without carols in the local village, a turkey dinner and Christmas TV. But it was close.
January’s EGL theme is always Wardrobe Posts! Yay. I love seeing other peoples lolita collection but more often than not makes me fall for a print and then I spend money! I often find stock photos are really unflattering and other peoples photos capture the real beauty of the pieces.
My wardrobe starting 2014 hasn’t changed much since 2013, compared to others my wardrobe is very small. Having lived in Japan for more than 18months now I haven’t bought much since being here. Of course I don’t earn as much here (a third of my UK wage) and seeing the items irl before buying means I can try them on and consider my purchases a lot more. As lolita is more available I don’t feel I have to quickly snap things up either. I’ve mixed some more offbrand and casual styles in nowadays as I’m also getting older I’ve moved away from sweet even more.
I was in Nagoya for the first business day of the year (Jan 2nd) and got up early to go to Nova, the shopping centre where most lolita stores are located.
The building opened at 10am, and I arrived about 9.30am, the queue was pretty long!
Happy new year to everyone! Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, I hope it’s interesting/useful.
I spent this new year holiday in Nagoya with the husband. We have had a lovely time visiting Gifu and Ise as well as enjoying all Nagoya has to offer (mostly food).
