How to win on UFO crane machines

Its only in the last 3 months or so that we have been playing these and been successful more often than not. I’ve won some items with just 1 ¥100 play!

So here are my tips on how to win…

1) Look like a tourist. Maybe it’s morally wrong, but if you look like a your on vacation they are more likely to make it easy for you I think! (Either to make a nice holiday memory, or you’ve more disposable money!).

2) Ask them to move the prizes. Hope that the prize you want isn’t on the edge as asking them to move it resets the position and perhaps due to hint 1 often they position it easier.

3) Aim to hook the tag, it’s the more secure way of picking it up. However if its nicely positioned on the edge aim to nudge or flip the prize. For Rilakkuma we usually go for the neck or just below the ears to flip it over the edge, or use the claw to push down his belly/legs at the bottom to flip him when he’s hanging over the edge.

Good luck! Happy catching!

  1. Oh yay! I was hoping you would make a post like this since you’ve been winning so many haha. I was too scared to play these when I was in Japan, but I’ll definitely have to give this a try when I go back – I already have the looking-like-a-tourist thing down haha. Thanks for putting this together!

  2. Oh!! What lovely pics!! How different it is from where I stay. For Rilakkuma plushies, you do not see the entire machines filled with plushies for you to pick using the claw. In fact, they normally only place one plush there and you would have to pick that one to win. Of course, you would then be allowed to change to another plush if you do win if you wish to do so. Most of the time though for many machines, when the claw moves to the top and bounces? The plushie will then drop back down again as the claw loses it’s grip. This is a very common senario for us here, that is why you spend Lot’s of money trying and still not win anything at the machines. It is pretty frustrating.
But I am glad and happy for you that you are having so much fun!! Thanks so much for sharing with us what you know. If I do go to Japan, I will surely give the claw machines a go!! Time to rescue those adorable plushies!!!
