Yesterday I went to see the Hanshin Tigers play against the Hiroshima Carp! Of course I went to support my local team the Tigers!
An ABC Cosme Store opened in Hep 5 Osaka a few months ago but I only went in for the first time this weekend. It was great, they had a lot of Korean products from Lioele, Holika Holika and Etude House. I got some cute face mask sheets for ¥52 each!
First I decided to try EGF as I didn’t know what it was and was intrigued. An Internet search told me it was epithelial growth factor, to make your skin regenerate and was good for anti ageing.
I enjoyed using the mask but afterwards didn’t notice any difference in my skin, at most a slight temporary softening.
But for the price, cute packaging and fun factor I’d get them again!
On the 22nd we went to Minoh! I wanted to go in Sept for the autumn colors but had a miscommunication and ended up going to Mt.Koya where there were no autumn colors!
It’s a 2.7km walk to the waterfall through some beautiful greenery, past a shrine and under a bridge.
I said I wanted to go back and try the strawberry cake pops here and so today I did!
The cake pop was actually really small, the sponge itself was ok, fairly bland, but under the icing was a super sweet strong strawberry mousse.
I think I’d much rather get a normal donut from Mister Donut, better value for money and tastier!
The strawberry cake pop gets 5/10.
J and I went to the Osaka Mint on the 15th not realizing that they were closed to prepare for official cherry blossom viewing which started on the 16th. Which was a shame as the blossom was in full bloom!
I was lucky enough to be invited back on the Sunday with my Japanese conversation class! Though as we joked it turned into more of a cherry blossom leaf viewing!
The viewing was only one way, and I’d heard horror stories of being crushed but it was relatively quiet, mostly because most of the blossom was on the floor! There were still a few trees with blossom and everyone was fighting to get to the front to take pictures! The blossom was very pretty, my friend said they are like small bouquets hand tied to the tree, and I agree!
After we walked through we strolled along the food stalls at the edge of the river.
And at the end we had a picnic! :)
Later in the evening I met J and we went back to have a beer at one of the stalls.
Yay another cute series from Etude House!
The lipstick seems like a lip balm, but it has that strange ingredient that reacts with your skin and turns pink. On my hand it looked like a lovely light pink but on my lips it develops into a shocking pink. Sadly the bright pink doesn’t suit me :( 5/10
These Hello Kitty donuts are just adorable and after being woken early by the earthquake yesterday I treated myself to a sugar rush!
The hardest part was deciding which to try! I normally like the baked ring donuts so that’s what I went for.
The icing was green apple flavour which I’m not that keen on, but the donut was it’s usual tasty self and it looked cute.
Cuteness 8/10, taste 6/10.
Think Ill try the strawberry cupcake one next!
I was woken about 5.40am by my husband, the sliding doors to our apartment were moving and banging together, huh?! Was it the wind? Oh wait was someone in our apartment on the other side of the doors? Ah no….it’s a quake!
I don’t know if it was necessary but I got up and stood in the doorway as some long ago earthquake advice had said! It lasted about a minute and I have to admit I was a little scared! It was my first real earthquake after experiencing a tiny one in the UK several years ago and a small one in Tokyo last year.
This one measured a 3 in my area, and had the same origin as the 1995 Kobe earthquake. Reports are no major damage, the trains stopped for nearly two hours and most are now running again.
I’m seriously considering attending the earthquake preparedness centre in Osaka now!
Yesterday was a lovely sunny day, I went back to Osaka Castle with a BBQ!
Sadly it rained really heavy Saturday night and the wind was howling so most of the beautiful blossom had been washed away.
It didn’t stop people enjoying the sunshine and what was left of the sakura though!
You can see just how much blossom was lost in two days:
And one last picture…
