Walking in Osaka by Shinsekai I ran into the lovely Phoebe and her husband! They were only in Osaka for 3 days.
Happy new year everyone!
I started this blog 365 days ago and since then I have made 58 posts.
I have been fortunate enough to visit:
Top of Mt Fuji
Ive spent half the year in my favorite country, met some lovely people, eaten some delicious food, and had some crazy adventures and beautiful moments. Overall I am very grateful for 2012, there has been bad news along the way too however.
I hope 2012 has been mostly good to you.
Lets hope 2013 is even more epic!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Chocolate rosette was released this summer, and I saw some of the items hanging around in APs Osaka branch up to a week after release. I liked it but the material was so thick and it was sweltering so thought it was a pointless purchase if I couldn’t wear it. Also I thought I’d get it cheaper on auctions when summer was over. WRONG! I started actively looking for it in October but the prices were always above RRP! Whilst hanging with the Osaka lolitas I saw it in a second hand store and asked how much it was – ¥33000 for a salopette!
So obviously I was excited when I saw on the Tokyo blog it was going to be released with a new green colour way. I popped into AP but they only had small samples, the lovely assistant that I always see there said it would be out on the 22nd. Saturday. When I was working from AP open to close. I had to hope they had some left for me on Sunday!
One brown jsk, one green salopette, and a brown, navy and green skirt…
I tried on the navy skirt and brown jsk. The navy skirt was perfect! But I didn’t have anything to match and wasn’t very loli in cut, so took the jsk. The whole time I was there the phone was ringing off the hook! Obvs with people after Chocolate Rosette!
I also got TWO free gifts. An Angelic Pretty fondue kit!
I’m so glad I was able to purchase it second time around and receive two cute free gifts
The weekend was so busy first I rushed around on Sunday and bought last minute presents (and APs Chocolate Rosette for myself!). In the evening our first stop of the night was the German Christmas Market in Umeda.
It was like all the other Christmas markets we’d ever been to like Leeds and Dusseldorf! We drank some gluhwein out of Santa heads and then moved on to Osaka Hikari Renaissance.
There were many illuminations but the 3D light show was the best for me!
Our last stop of the night was Tennoji Luminance.
You could see Shinsekai in the background. It was so cold that night so I was happy to head home after half an hour!
Christmas eve and our wedding anniversary was another packed day. We exchanged gifts in the morning, we always try to buy traditional gifts and this year was leather or glass/crystal. I got J some wine glasses (which we needed) and some Christmas tree wagashi like the one we ate for our wedding meal. He got me an expensive beautifully cut glass with a Sakura shaped bottom, it’s a ‘rocks’ glass for umeshu and rocks (ice).
Christmas morning started well with a mountain of presents, Christmas music, Santa hats, cups of tea and bacon butties!
I must have been a good girl this year as I got quite a few treats! A lovely parcel from my family with Christmas socks, chocolate coins, toiletries etc in. From James I got a gel nail kit, iPad sd card reader, mince pies, jigsaw with Pickles face on, poodle calendar, cute jumper, Rilakkuma stocking and DUFFY!
After a nice bath I had to get ready and go to work. Work was fairly unfestive and I had a parent observation sprung on me last min. It’s Christmas people! Still the day went faily quick and a parent brought in this awesome Christmas quiche!
I got home around 9pm, tided up and waited for J to finish work, at 10pm we took our receipt to KFC. Oh my lordly. It’s a huge bucket!
What was inside –
We finished this off with some fizzy rose, after eight mints and mince pies with homemade brandy butter (made by J!), not to mention a game of monopoly!
Then it was bed time and Christmas over for another year. Hope you all day a lovely day xxx
On Monday eve we went to Kyoto to do some Christmas shopping and visit Arashiyama for their light up festival Arashiyama Hanatouro.
We walked across the bridge to Hourinji Temple.
We only had about 20mins left before they turned off the lights for the night (at 8.30pm) so we had to move very quickly to the bamboo forest!
We made it just in time and even visited Nonomiya Shrine before close.
I can’t believe I’ve lived in Osaka nearly 4 months and only just found the Rilakkuma Store!
I tried to find it once but ran out of time and had to give up and go to work, but the second time I was determined! Even though I knew it was in the Hankyu San Bangai North wing 1F I still had trouble locating it. The shopping centre is split into North and South and you have to go to the basement restaurant floor to be able to walk between the two.
The New Year items had just been released, 2013 is year of the snake!
Sadly most of the Christmas items had been sold, they had some Korilakkumas left that’s all.
I got one! So cute.
I also picked up a hand warmer cover and knitted bobble hat!
A day or two after this I found an amazing lucky pack in Vivre in Nara, it’s closing in the new year and they made LPs with the rilakkuma stock. I got some Kiiroitori slippers, stickers, iPhone cover, Kiiroitori keychain plushie and mechanical pencil. Not bad for ¥2000.
I hope Santa will bring me more Rilakkuma items soon!
I just got this guy from the Rilakkuma Store today, he’s a bag and super soft <;3
Js friend was leaving Japan and very kindly gave us his unfinished train pass along with some pots and pans. We used the train pass to visit Mt.Koya.
To reach Mt Koya you have to change from the train to the cable car. It’s the steepest I’ve ever been in!
We were having our morning set the other day when Mai-chan rocked up in her owners basket. We spied her out the window and made excited noises!
Her owner caught James taking pictures and went back out to try and get her to pose for us! Then when we were leaving she came out with us, got Mai-chan down and let us cuddle her. Too cute!
Mai can dance and walk! Her owner was very nice and showed us her tricks! It made me really happy to meet Mai-chan as I miss Pickles soo much! I hope we bump into them again.
